September Favorites!

Hey girls! I want to start off this post by saying I am SO sorry for not posting in a while, AND that this is so late, I've been really stressed with school work, dance and other activities that this blog has been the last thing on my mind. That makes me so sad because I really do enjoy writing these posts as free time and every time I thought about it, it was just another task for me to do. BUT, I barely have any homework tonight so I am so so ready to write this lovely post!

September has seriously flown right by, I feel like it just started! It's my favorite month of the whole year because it's still warm, but cool at the same time, Fall weather is my absolute favorite! Also, September is my Birthday month- why wouldn't that be a reason for it to be a good month!

Beauty/Fashion Favorites
The first thing I've been loving lately is my watch! I only got it for my birthday-which is toward the end of the month-but I am so in love with it! It's the Michael Kors Mini Blair watch in Rose Gold. I've wanted one for so long and I am so happy about this you don't even know! I know you can't always pair it with every outfit, but that's okay with me. I want to wear it a lot, but not too often that it becomes boring.

Okay the next thing you might not understand, but you will soon. It's a Miranda Sings T-shirt that Kristin gave me for my birthday! We love watching Miranda Sings, she is HILARIOUS. I'll write some more about her later in this post.

I have also been loving my Benefit They're Real Mascara, which Francesca gave to me for my birthday! I have been wanting to try this for a whole and almost purchased it at Ulta a few weeks ago-good thing I didn't! It makes my lashes super long and voluminous and I adore the way it glides on to my lashes.

This month I have been using my Nars blush in Deep Throat almost every day. It's a beautiful shimmery peach color and is perfect for everyday. It gives me just enough color, but not too over the top. It is a very summery color so I'm trying to squeeze out the last few times I can use it!

I also wanted to include my bag that I use for school, we are allowed to carry tote bags or backpacks with our books and the one I got this year is so perfect. It's the Kate Spade Daycation Bon Shopper in Paint Blocks and it fits everything I need without being too big or bulky-I love it!

Non Beauty Favorites

The first thing I must talk about is candy corn! This is my absolute favorite candy and for some reason I can only eat it in the Fall. I know this is going to make me sound like a pig but I've already gone through 2 bags of it since mid September. The one that's my favorite is by Brach's, all the other ones are too waxy to me, but I found a recipe to make it so I might try that!

The things I have been drinking all month are seltzer and water! I've always liked seltzer but lately, I'm drinking it a lot more when I want some bubbles (I've been trying to stay away from junk food and soda just to stay healthier). But everyday I bring a water bottle and usually buy another at lunch time, then I drink it at home too! My favorite kind of seltzer by the way is the Vintage Lemon Lime, Raspberry or Raspberry Lime-so good!

My favorite show has been Abby and Brittany! It's on TLC and it follows conjoined twin girls Abby and Brittany Hensel as they graduate college and pursue a career in teaching. It just ended but I hope the next season will be aired soon! It's so inspiring to me that they are so physically different from everyone else, but in every other way they're 2 normal 22 year old girls! They don't let anything stop them and try to accomplish anything they want. You can check some episodes out here.

And lastly, my favorite songs of the month! I am a huge fan of Ke$ha and after I saw her in concert last year I felt like she dropped off the face of the Earth! But she's back with her new song Die Young! It has a great beat and catchy lyrics-I love it! My other favorite song has been Light Up The Sky by Duncan, my dance teacher put this on in class one day during warm ups and I've been listening to it non stop! It's super catchy and just a fun song to listen to!

I hope you enjoyed my September Favorites and stay post for a new post real soon-I promise!

OOTD/FOTD: My Cousin's Sweet Sixteen!

Hey girls! Today's post is going to be an Outfit of the Day/Face of the Day post of my outfit and makeup for my cousin's Sweet 16 party! I'm writing this after because I just didn't have enough time beforehand. I was babysitting and then had to rush and get ready in time! Plus it took me a little over an hour to straighten my hair because I wanted every little bump out (big mistake). So without further ado, let's get started!

Dress & Shoes: Both my dress and shoes were purchased at a local boutique that I am going to choose not to mention the name of for privacy, but both I'm sure you could find close matches too almost anywhere! My dress was a royal blue lace body con dress, I had to wear blue because I was in her "court" and that was the color we had to wear! I fell in love with this dress the minute I tried it on, it fit just perfectly like it was made for me. The shoes were just a pair of black patent leather pumps, but they weren't that high because I wanted to make sure I could still walk and dance in them with ease (even thought they were off most of the night) The pictures included were taken at the party because, again, I was rushing and didn't have time for pictures!

Jewelry: I just wore some simple silver jewelry to compliment my dress.
~Earrings-I wore my pearl earrings, just in my first hole because I couldn't find any good combinations to wear in my other ones.
~Necklace-I had on a silver interlocking heart necklace that my older sister gave to me last Christmas.
~Rings-On my right middle finger I wore a heart/knot necklace that Kristin gave to me and I did mix metals here, on my left middle finger I wore my gold crucifix ring that I wear every single day, so it was an exception :)
~Bracelet-On my left hand (I only wear big bracelets on my left hand because I'm a righty and hate if I have a bracelet clanking around while I'm trying to do something) I wore my silver Tiffany and Co. Return to Tiffany Oval Tag Bracelet

Makeup: I went for a neutral look so my makeup didn't overpower my outfit.
~Face-I used my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light/Medium, Physicians Formula Conceal Rx in Fair/Light and Too Faced Amazing Faces powder in Vanilla Cream. For blush I used Benfit's Bella Bamba Boxed Powder.
~Eyes-I used my Naked 2 palette and applied Half Baked to my whole lid, YDK in the crease and Snakebite to the outer corner/outer v. I applied Mac Zoomlash mascara to the upper and lower lashes.
~Lips-I put on the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart/Valentine and Nars Sweet Revenge Lip gloss on top.
I don't have pictures of my face, again, in the sake of time, but if you check out my Marilyn Monroe tutorial the eyes are almost the same just a little toned down and no eyeliner. :)

Thank you so much for reading and don't forget to share our blog with your friends! I love you guys!

Marilyn Monroe Inspired Tutorial!

Hey girls! Now I don't normally post twice in a row but I wanted to get this up today! So, I'm pretty sure I mentioned this in my "About Me" post, but I am a huge Marilyn Monroe fan....I'm not even sure if the word huge describes it. Basically, ever since I first truly knew who she was I loved her, many people don't realize she was an extremely talented actress and singer, and only notice her for the negatives. Today, August 5th, marks the 50th anniversary of her death and I felt that this was a good tribute. If you want to see who Marilyn really was go watch Gentleman Prefer Blondes (my personal favorite) or any other movie starring Marilyn, then decide for yourself who you think she was. But, without further ado let's jump right in!

Face: Marilyn always had a very flawless look to her skin so I applied my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light/Medium and covered my under eye circles and any blemishes with the Physician's Formula Conceal Rx. Then I lightly dusted over it with my Too Faced Amazing Faces Foundation Powder in Vanilla Creme. Next, I contoured my face with the bronzer in my Sephora Blockbuster palette (I don't normally wear bronzer so this was the only one I had!) And applied the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal to the apples of my cheeks. (Excuse the eczema on my cheeks here...darn you high def camera)

Eyes: I started out by priming my eyelids with Urban Decay Primer Potion. Then, using my Naked 2 palette I applied Half Baked all over my lid, applied Snakebite to the outer v and blended and Bootycall as a highlight. The next step is pretty important, I applied Snakebite and Tease to the crease of my eye and blended inward, Marilyn basically made the defined crease look popular so it's a must. Next, I applied Maybelline Stiletto liquid liner in Very Black to my upper lash line and winged it out, and applied Sephora eyeliner in Black to the outer half of my waterline and my tightline. Lastly I curled my lashes and applied Mac Zoomlash to my upper and lower lashes.

Lips: Obviously, I think it goes without saying, red lips. I personally can't rock a nice, dark, red lip so for a more subtle look I put Mabelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me all over my lips and applied a Liplicious Lip Gloss in Cherry Gelato on top. For a more dramatic look I recommend a classic red, such as Mac's Mac Red or Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio, both are really classic red lipstick colors.

***Please note: No, we are NOT adding in a mole with eye/lip liner. That looks cheesy and obviously fake and you will look a little weird wearing a fake mole...

Hair: Marilyn always wore her hair in a short, pinned up, curled style. Now, that is a bit outdated to to modernize it we will just have curls. I slept with Style Stix 1/2 inch curlers in to give it a more natural look and took them out when I woke up. But if you don't have a full night you can give yourself some looser curls using a wide curling iron or wand, or using a smaller one and combing them out afterwards.

I hope you liked reading this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it! Talk you you guys soon!

July Favorites!

Hey girls! Today I want to share with you my favorite things from July and I hope you enjoy!

Beauty Related Favorites!

The first thing I have been loving is my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I don't wear much makeup in the Summer, but I love this because it gives me coverage on my face and it has SPF 30. That's important all year round but especially in the Summer!

Next, I have really been liking my Mac Lipstick in Plink! It's a perfect neutral shade and I can wear it a lot when I don't want something bold on my lips! It looks like you're just wearing a little bit of a light shimmer on your lips.

I have also been loving Gel manicures! I got one towards the end of July, but I've had them before. I really love how long they stay on and the way that they look. Last time, I got OPI Gelcolor in "A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find" and this time I got LeChat Perfect Match Gel Polish in the color DJ Mix. It's more of a teal than a green in person!

I have been using my Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser A TON this month. In the Summer my T- zone gets super oily from sweating a lot on my face. It's important to me to wash my face every day to prevent breakouts and this wash helps even out my skin type!

Okay, last time I went to Mac the saleslady gave me a sample of Mac Zoomlash mascara and let me tell you it's amazing. It stays on all day and gives me the perfect amount of volume and length! After I run out of this sample I will definitely be purchasing a full size! I feel like I have finally found the perfect mascara.

Non Beauty Favorites

This month I've had 2 favorite songs (and probably more that I'm forgetting!) I've been super duper in love with "I'm On A Roll" by Stefano (Mine and Landon's jam). Also a great beach, summery song is "F****** Best Song Ever" by Wallpaper and it does have cursing pretty often so if you're too young for that check out "Best Song Ever" by Wallpaper...the clean one! This song has a really catchy beat and I can listen to it all day!

My favorite drink this month has been Arnold Palmer Pink Lemonade+Sweet Tea! This is made by Arizona Iced Tea and for me I HAVE to have the one with PINK lemonade, the regular one doesn't taste as good and I prefer pink lemonade to begin with.

Okay now, my last but oh so certainly not least favorite is a person. That person would be Michael Phelps. I'm sorry but I am not jumping on this Lochte bandwagon (face it Landon) I am a true Phelps Phan and let's be honest he is not hard on the eyes at all! He's a great athlete and a good person all together. And not like it's an added bonus or anything (wink wink) but this guy is hot. I'm not even going to beat around the bush, like get me some of that. But, I have to face reality that he is too old for me, so for ow I will admire from afar. In all honesty though-he is one of the greatest Olympians of all time, he holds the record for the most gold medals at one Olympic games (8 gold-Beijing 2008) and he is the most decorated Olympian of all time (22 medals between Sydney 2000-London 2012). So congrats to you, Michael...you deserve it! :*

What's in my Shower!

Hey girls! So last night I was watching a bunch of these videos on Youtube and I thought it would be fun to make a post on what I keep in my shower because I love watching/reading them so much! So let's get started!

The shower that I use in my house is just a stand up stall type shower, so it has no bottom faucet to take a bath in. On the ceiling there is a Rainmaker shower head and then on the wall we have a removable sprayer shower head. The floor has little river rocks that I love because it feels like a massage on my feet. On the little handle I keep my loofah and a hair tie in case I need it while fixing my hair.

Then there is a small ledge next to the shower door (we have a glass door on our shower) and on that I just keep my razor, shaving cream and yes, toothpaste and a toothbrush. I know it's weird but at night I brush my teeth while I'm in the shower. You should all try it because it's really fun and I feel like my mouth should be clean too after the shower. Like I said my comb was here in this picture but that's not its usual spot!

Next on the opposite wall of the shower there is a slew of items on a built in shelf. So I broke up the pictures.

First, there is a few random shampoo's and conditioner's that I don't use so they're basically just there when guests come. Next to that I have my Planet Spa Icelandic Mineral Water Invigorating Body Wash which I LOVE. I love using it if I have sunburn because it's very cooling and it has the most amazing clean almost minty smell to it.

Then I have some different face washes, I have a Lancome face wash that I HATE it is super oily but I leave it in the shower anyway. Then I have a Clean and Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser which I use almost every night in the shower. On top of that I use BenzEFoam Emollient Foam which is a prescription foaming acne cleanser. Next there is my Bath and Body Works Be Enchanted body wash that I use with my loofah. I also have a Bath Junkie Body Dessert that I occasionally use in the scent Spring Fling and Rain.

In front of that I have my Lush Karma soap that I absolutely adore. I am a Lush lover but sadly, the Lush near me closed :( so this will have to last me until I find another one. I also have my Lush Buffy body butter, it's also known as Buffy the Backside Slayer because it has amazing chunks of walnut shells and exfoliates wonderfully. I actually take ths out of the shower while I'm in because it could melt from the heat and I use it after showering.

That is all that's in my shower and I share it with just my older sister so everything in here we both use so there's nothing I took out for the pictures. Leave any comments below and I'll talk to you guys soon!

My Everyday Hair Routine!

Hey girls! Today I wanted to make a post about my everyday hair routine and just basically what I do to keep it healthy every day.

Let's start with taking a shower, I shower every day in the hot months and about every other day in the cooler months. In the shower I use the Tresemme Split Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner and I am so in love with it. I have very dry, wavy unmanageable hair and this makes it silky smooth and reduces my split ends and breakage! While shampooing I comb out any tangles with a wide tooth shower comb and then rinse my hair. Then I apply the conditioner and comb it through and leave it on for about 3-5 minutes and rinse. It's important to leave it on for a few minutes so it can soak in and nourish your hair. If you have oily hair you should not put conditioner directly in your roots, but I do because like I said, my hair is extremely dry. Now, I love taking cold showers in the Summer but I'm going to let you in on a sparkly little secret, rinsing your hair with cold water closes the cuticle which makes the hair stronger and prevents dirt from accumulating on your scalp. So it's essentially keeping your hair cleaner for longer. It also stimulates the nerves in your scalp which aids hair growth! Once a week I deep condition my hair using Matrix Biolage Deep Conditioner. You apply this to your hair for about 7 minutes and it really helps hydrate your hair.

After the shower I towel dry my hair and apply Tresemme Split Remedy Leave in Conditioner. I comb that through because using a wide tooth comb on wet hair is much better than a brush as the brush will cause more breakage to the wet hair. I also will sometimes apply my Moroccan Oil Treatment and Styling Cream, but I typically use that in the winter when my hair is dryer. Then I put it into 2 regular braids and sleep with them in.

In the morning I undo the braids and spray in Ouidad Botanical Boost spray to wake up my hair and make it feel fresh. If I didn't wash my hair the night before I will spray some dry shampoo into my roots, I use Got 2b Rockin' It Encore Fresh Dry Shampoo. Then I comb it and either leave it natural or style it.
That is all that I do for my hair and every step is important to me, or else my hair will be a frizzy mess! Thank you for reading and leave any comments below!

What's In My Beach Bag!

Hey girls! Today's post is going to be a peak inside my beach bag! I'll admit that I'm a pretty nosy person so I love these kinds of posts. With Summer beginning I figured now was the best time to make my own! Fortunately, we live in a place where the beach is not very far, so we can go pretty frequently! I have this straw beach bag from target that is adorable because it has little sequins on it! It's the right size and big enough to fit everything I need. So now here is what I keep inside of it!

Banana Boat Kids SPF 50 Sunscreen: This is a must for me. I have extremely sensitive skin and most sunscreens sting my face after a short period of wear, but this is the only one so far that doesn't do that! I can't leave the house without it.

Tanning Oil: Okay, now I know it's not good for you and gives barely any protection to your skin, but I use it. I love to be tan, but would never go into a bed or get a spray tan. I also don't burn easily at all, I get very tan in the Summer and I don't know why, but the only time my skin burns is if I have nothing at all on. I use Banana Boat Deep Tanning Oil with SPF 8.

A lip balm with SPF: This is so important, yet the thing people most commonly forget. The skin on your lips is soft and delicate and can burn easily, so it's important to wear a lip balm that includes SPF. My favorite right now is the Hawaiian Tropic SPF 45+ Vanilla Mint Lip Balm. It feels nice and cool on your lips and is super protective! I even used it on vacation last year where it was way sunnier and it still totally protected my lips! Sorry, but I couldn't find it for a picture!

Sun In: I have used Sun In in the past and I love it, I use it at the beach or just hanging in my pool. I definitely don't recommend it if you have dark hair (it will turn your hair orange) but I'm naturally dirty blonde so it helps lighten up my hair. Check back soon for a review!

Sunscreen with 30+ SPF: Like I said, I don't burn easily on the majority of my body, but my shoulders will burn like crazy, I know it's weird! So I only apply this to my shoulders and upper back! Also make sure it's waterproof so it doesn't come off in the ocean or if you're sweating!

Sunglasses: I lose sunglasses like it's no body's business. I don't even know what happens to them they just vanish...well, I usually leave them places, so I've never purchased a super expensive pair because I know I will lose them. Just make sure you have a pair with you to protect your eyes from harmful rays!

A small makeup bag: In this I usually keep concealer, mascara, lip balm, blotting papers and deodorant! I don't wear makeup to the beach (sometimes waterproof mascara) but I keep this in case I'm going out to dinner or somewhere else afterwards and want to freshen up!

Something to read: I'm usually not a big reader at the beach so I'll bring either a magazine or a light reading book. I always make sure to have something just in case I get bored.

A water bottle: It is super important to stay hydrated, especially when you're sitting in the sun! I usually bring a few disposable bottles or one big reusable one.

A towel: For obvious reasons! I am a big ocean girl, I don't just lay on my towel the whole time, I like to swim in the ocean! I could stay in the ocean all day, plus the salt water is good for your skin and you get a better tan in the ocean!

A comb: When I go in the ocean, I usually throw my hair up in a messy bun, so after it gets wet it's a knotty mess! It's a necessity for me to have a comb to brush out tangles before it dries and gets matted.

Leave in Conditioner: I bring this in my beach bag to avoid the terrible tangles I just spoke about. If this is in my hair ahead of time it helps to stop from tangling and I spray it in while combing through to help me.

A wallet: I like to carry a wallet with some money in case I need an extra drink or any food at the beach. Also a lot of times we go to the boardwalk afterwards so I can use it to purchase something that I find there!

That's pretty much all that I carry with me in my beach bag, I hope you enjoyed this post. Love you all!

Mini Ulta Haul!

Hey girls! Yesterday I was out and about with my older sister running errands for the later half of the day. She wanted to go to the bookstore and we have an Ulta right in the same shopping center as Barnes & Noble so while she was there I decided to run over just to "look" and somehow ended up spending over $100 at Ulta. I seriously have a problem that needs to be taken care of.

The first thing that I did was pick up a gift for Kristin! She's going to be Elle in a performance of Legally Blonde this Summer and I know I speak for all of us when I say that we are super proud of our little actress/singer/amazing-at-everything-friend! We were browsing the Benefit website and practically obsessing over the new Ultra Plush Lip Glosses. We told each other a few of our favorite colors and I got the gist of what would be the best for her. I picked up the Dandelion color to give to her after her show! Don't worry she already knows so I'm not spoiling it! When I swatched it, it was absolutely gorgeous and the smoothest lip gloss I've ever felt; a review of that will definitely be coming up soon from Kristin!

Then I was browsing the Benfit Box O' Powder's and there were a few I was really in love with, I narrowed my finalists down (me buying makeup is like a competition of the best products) and chose between Coralista, Bella Bamba, and Hervana. The winner for me was Bella Bamba! It's a gorgeous watermelon pink, "3D brightening pink face powder" and it stood out to me the most.

The next thing I purchased was one of those see it then realize you NEED it things. I spotted the Urban Decay Primer Potion out of the corner of my eye and thought "Oh I need a new one!" so I added one in the Original color to my bag. Not very exciting, but an important product nonetheless!

Now, I know I am a little late on this bandwagon, but I finally caved. I was trying to avoid even going near it, I was looking at Too Faced, Stila, Bare Minerals, perfumes, anything to stop me from seeing it. Then, suddenly, it crossed my path. Just a random display smack dab in the middle of the aisle. There it was, mocking me, staring me down. What was it you ask? None other than the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. To waste more time avoiding it I swatched both the First and Second palette and a lovely saleslady, named Samantha helped me out. She said that the colors in the Naked 2 would compliment my skin tone more and that she personally prefers it. So like I said, I caved, and I bought it. I am officially a part of the Naked 2 Club. Kristin's ever persuasive post also helped convince me, as well. Surprisingly enough though, I don't regret it one bit. I feel that display and I were meant to cross paths, and the makeup powers put it there for me to see. Well, either way I cannot wait to use this baby!

That's all that I picked up at Ulta yesterday, but today I made a quick stop at my local Harmon's with my older stepsister. While I was there I picked up some makeup remover wipes(I like them much better than actual remover) and 2 Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain's in Rendezvous and Sweetheart/Valentine! I can't wait to try out everything I purchased!

Add A Little Twist!

Hey Girls! Today I'm making a post on how to do 4 different types of braids on yourself. I'll be talking about French Braiding, 4 strand braid, and the ever popular fishtail braid! Keep reading to see how to make them! **Some of these are complicated to explain, I will link a Youtube video to each at the end if you need further help!** Note: You will need to know how to do a simple 3 strand braid for these styles, if you do not know how, do not fear! There are plenty of videos to teach you how!

Fishtail Braid: This braid is a little complicated to explain, but I will try my very best. What you are going to do is divide your hair into 2 sections. Then take a small section from the outer part of one side and cross it over to the inside of the other. (See what I mean, sounds confusing but I promise it's not that hard once you get the hang of it!) Then repeat that with a strand from the other side. Continue this all the way down alternating sections and secure with an elastic. if you are having trouble starting the braid, it is easier for some to secure the hair with a clear elastic at the top and cut it out when finished. Click here if you need more help!

French Braid: This will start by taking a section from the very top of your head. Then divide into 3 sections and braid normally one cycle (left over right, right over left ONCE) Then before passing your left over right again, pick up some hair hanging down and incorporate it with the starting section and braid in. Do that with the opposite side and continue to the nape of your neck. Some people choose to secure here and leave the rest as a hanging ponytail, which I personally don't care for. If you wish to continue, keep braiding normally until you feel you cannot reach, then bring it around your shoulder and to the front and finish, then securing with an elastic and returning to the back. Here is a video if you should need it!

4 Strand Braid: For this, you will start by securing your hair in a clear elastic. Then, divide your hair int 4 equal sections, and I'll admit that I use my mouth to help me hold them! Then you will sort of weave the first piece through the other 3. Go over, under over, then the 1st piece will become the last. now repeat that with the new 1st piece until you run out of hair. Secure with an elastic and remove the top one. This video is fantastic! I have it set to the right place for you!

Thanks for reading! Comment below with any questions!
